Playmote

One remote for the one you cant find. One remote to rule them all.

Meet the Playmote; a TV remote control for your Playdate. This app runs and connects to your Smart TV like a phone. It handles many protocols and the encryption to generate certificates to connect to the TV without the need of a computer. Currently in testing this remote supports Google TV, Fire TV and ROKU and you can add more than one. 

Remote display will show a sun during the day and a moon at night. Additionally the background changes during some weather conditions. 

SETUP: 

TV AND PLAYDATE MUST BE ON THE SAME NETWORK SINCE THEY COMMUNICATE OVER WIFI. 

1) Open the app and input your TV's IP address.

2) Wait for the app to configure. (5min)

3) Input the code seen on your TV. Once accepted wait for the Playdate to create RSA key pairs for certificate to pair to tv. Device certificate will be created once and then used for multiple TVs in the future. 

4)Enjoy the Playmote!

*You can always add another device by going to the APPS page and PAIR TV.

*It is a limitation of the playdate to keep http/tcp connections alive while the device is sleeping. Playdate will reconnect for a few seconds after being asleep.

*IP address configuration is necessary since Playdate does not support UDP so it cannot list all the TVs on your network like a phone can. It also takes to long to connect and scan for IPs so entering the IP from the TV settings works much faster. Once the device handles the certificate it will use the same one for every new tv you connect to.
